There’s a moment in March where everything changes. You step outside and the air is different — softer, somehow. The light lingers a bit longer. And suddenly the moors aren’t just grey anymore. They’re green. Properly green.
This week has been one of those weeks where I’ve just been… grateful. Not for anything specific. Just for being here. In this village. In this life. With Neil. Serving Jehovah.
What’s been happening
This week’s highlights
The daffodils exploded along the lane to the Kingdom Hall
We had a lovely return visit who asked for a Bible study
Neil finally fixed the garden gate (only took him three months)
I made the best batch of scones I’ve ever made. No evidence remains
Two lambs in the field behind our house — I’ve named them already
Morning tea and our favourite walking route — the two constants
Ministry this week has been lovely. There’s something about knocking on doors when the sun is actually shining that makes everything feel more hopeful. People are friendlier. Gardens are open. Even the dogs seem happier.

A woman on our territory told us she’d been praying for someone to help her understand the Bible. She wasn’t sure anyone would come. We happened to knock on her door that morning. Coincidence? I don’t think so.
The small things
I keep saying this, but it’s the small things that make this life beautiful. A fresh loaf of bread cooling on the rack. The smell of woodsmoke when we walk home from the meeting. Neil reading his Bible in the armchair with a cup of tea balanced on the armrest (one day he’ll spill it).
The view from our lane at 7pm — this never gets old
Spring is here. And so am I. And I’m grateful.
